ASPHALT SHINGLE ROOFING

Asphalt shingles are the most common roof system you will see on homes in our area. We install any variety of asphalt shingles, but the three most common are 3-tab, architectural, and impact-resistant shingles. 3-tab shingles are the least expensive system to install, and they lay flat on a roof with no overlap. Architectural is our preferred shingle, as they are significantly better quality due to the overlapping, dimensional installation of the shingle. Impact-resistant shingles are an upgrade, but offer more protection against hail that can destroy your roof.

Standing Seam and Metal Roofs

We have expertise working with both corrugated metal roofs and standing seam metal roofs. Standing seam panels are a concealed fastener system, meaning the fasteners don’t penetrate the face of the panel during installation and are not visible. Corrugated panels are exposed fastener panels, so we drill a screw hole through the panel to fasten it to the structure. While both systems are of great quality, corrugated metal roofs eventually need to be rescrewed to maintain integrity.

ASPHALT SHINGLES VS METAL ROOFS

ASPHALT SHINGLE

  • Cheaper to install
  • More likely to require maintenance over time comparatively
  • Won’t typically last as long
  • Much easier and quicker installation
  • Tend to make a warmer home in the summer, but also retains heat better in the winter
  • Less valuable when it

METAL ROOFING

  • More expensive to install
  • Less likely to require maintenance over the lifespan of the roof
  • Will most likely have a longer lifespan
  • Special installation required
  • Better at reflecting heat in the summer, but doesn’t retain heat as well in the winter
  • Will add value to your home when you sell
